Everybody on my server is using an obnoxious combination of grump, merlin, helena. Then it's either centaur and hyperia/ trinity, or hyperia and trinity.
What's the best way to beat these stupid comps? Grump survives way too long and makes a hero completely useless or taunts you to where he can't be hit.

Try sending a tank over to keep grump busy for the entire match. Centaur does a nice job. He will taunt anyone within 2 cells, so try to get your other heroes to land further away.
It really depends on how the defender is positioned.

Obnoxious and stupid yet you are asking for advice? Lol then I think that formation is actually pretty clever.
Don't do what buttersheep just said. Send a tank ahead and landing others away is not the way to go. You must lure the enemies to your side( using all low mobility heroes such as Naga, Behemoth... cause Grump will take at least 2 turns to reach you), or throw everyone to the enemies faces ( Grump cannot taunt all, and you have to out-damage the healing of Helena and Trinity)
The weakness of that team is the cluster positions that benefit Cyclops Kaboom. Merlin, Cyclops, Centaur, Gable and Pixie, throw the last 3 into enemies face( if you have Gladius then switch out Gable and you have pretty much 99% chance to win). Luring method, use Merlin, Cyclops, Naga, Behemoth and Pei to lure and kill the 3 movement heroes b4 Grump reaches you. Merlin + Helena is no match for Pei and Cyclops once everyone else is dead.

Obnoxious and stupid meaning overly tanky, impossible to kill, and abusing how overpowered Grump is. It's a smart team comp, but it's a douche move. I was using the Naga/Behemoth method previously, but when the map changed, it wouldn't work anymore.

@ Galette : Ppl trying to keep their rank with available heroes is a douche move ? Yeah well whatever.
It's hard to give advice without knowing the current Arena map. But when you said Naga/ Behemoth wouldn't work, that would mean it's more of an open map where Grump can walk straight down the middle.
Throw everything in their faces. That def team is no where near OP. With Hyper/Trinity they lose out on disable, with Centaur/Trinity then no crowd energy control, with Centaur/Hyper => no second heal and skill prohibited. How to attack:
1/ Now, Merlin and Helena make 2 Rangers in the defense team. What do we use against Ranger? Pixie. This guy will take hit from Helena and Merlin with a very good chance to dodge. Not to mention 40% chance one of the ranger would be sleeping. 2/ Pixie will be pulled by Grump so throw Centaur in. If Grump is behind then Cent will stun Hyper, Trinity or enemy Centaur depends on what they're using. 3/ Merlin is a must for damage reduction in first round and the electric shield. 4/ Dracula or Gable, preferably Gable to enhance damage. 5/ If the enemy is using Hyperia , it will always fly up to attack Centaur, this is where Naga or Behemoth ( your choice) would reach Hyperia in first round, if you set up your attack team right. If it's not possible to lure Hyperia up, or there is no Hyperia, use Cyclops.
You cannot beat it doesn't mean it is OP. The real OP are Gladius and Pegasus since their stats are superior to the rest at same star levels. Gladius will wreck any Grump team you could come up with... Luckily, not everyone can afford to have those at 5 stars

Forgot a tip. Merlin and Helena have to attack Pixie. Grump is busy with 3 heroes in his face. That leave 2 others.
The funny thing about Trinity and Hyperia AI is, they will attack Centaur. BUT, if Cyclops is within range on turn 2, one of them will go to him in order to stop Kaboom. A lone hero attacking Cyclops is stupid but the AI doesn't know that. By setting up your Cyclops correctly, you can take one of the enemy out of the picture.
To do well in Arena you have to know the pattern of all heroes. At the same lv , equipment and stars, no team is impossible to beat unless it has Gladius and Pegasus.

I know very well the patterns of the arena, im just getting tired of the influx of tanks in every single game lately. It doesn't matter what it is, you build tank, your godmode.
I'm normally always top 10 on my server, it's just these tanks, theyre obnoxiously unpredictable and I will admit I'm starting to get extremely salty at them. Normally I run hyperia, trinity, dracula, pixie, helena. I can defend these comps very well, but if somebody using a comp similar to mine knocks me down, it's a very frustrating experience to reclaim my spoto the next day.
The suggestion to use Merlin, Pei, Cyclops, Naga, Behemoth has been extremely effective and i am now 4 for 4 using it. So thank you for that. Finally a comp that has reliability in an area that was shots in the dark previously.

The AI is stupid so all you need is Merlin + Cyclops + Pei + Helena + another tank since again, the AI is stupid. Then you'll be guaranteed to keep your spot. It's also not a "clever" or "smart" comp, it's the dumbest comp you could go for and it works since the AI is equally dumb.

That team wouldn't go anywhere near the top 20. 4 range heroes in a defend team will never work. I'm sure you are not a high rank to make such a statement, or your server is fairly new and everyone doesn't have access to a wide range of heroes yet. There is no such team that would guarantee to keep your spot. I rank 1 most of the time, and the same set up can only help you, at most, a day. Then people will figure out how to beat it the next day. ( the 5 matches/day limit does help)

Can you post a screenshot of their formation please?

Like Ergaomnes said, it would be very nice to see most efficient formations (both defence and offence).
If I understood correctly, it's good to switch it around all the time. But for a newcomer even a single formation idea would be helpful, if it's a good one.
I saw some arena videos from NBSerG on this forum, but would be cool to see some more formation examples, especially for the defence (for the offence I usually come up with something useful after looking at the opponent's formation).

Zorak flies to Helena if she's there, Merlin is second or third (I think Aqua comes first) in his priority list

Zorak targets healers by default. Helena/aqua/trinity. Then lowest defense. The exception being if he can one shot kill someone else. I've seen him go and kill pixie round one instead of hitting Helena, purely because it was a kill hit.
